Jane Eyre

Could Chanson de  l’Ange be the next Jane Eyre?  Hahahah!  According to my hubby (who is not at all biased) perhaps so!  Of course, the comment I am about to share may have been prompted by nonstop chatter about the new Film adaptation to be released in March!   Jane Eyre is one of my all time favorites in classic literature, and I adore the story on film.  I’ve seen all film adaptations at least once, and although I know the entire plot and have memorized some dialogue from the book, the story on film never fails to enchant and sweep me off my feet.  I can’t wait to see this new version!

Anyhow, I digress:  so this morning as the hubby and I were chatting over our cup of steaming Pete’s Coffee, I was informing him that, given I am not doing a whole lot to promote Chanson de l’Ange at this time (because I’m currently still working on Book Two) I’m quite pleased with my book sales.  What follows is an exact quote from our conversation:

“Well honey, Jane Eyre isn’t selling 1000’s of copies because Charlotte Bronte is sitting around texting promotions…..a good book will eventually find it’s own legs.”

The mention of Jane Eyre in the same breath as Chanson de l’Ange from my hubby is flattering indeed, but I’m also privy to the fact that he knows it’s my favorite, and he also knows I’ve been a bit down lately.  So there is a strategy behind this comment, and I love him for making the comparison.  He cheered me right up!  I can only hope that in some small way, my retelling of Phantom of the Opera will find its place among other favorite POTO fanfiction and adaptations.  That’s all I’m really reaching for.

Disclaimer: I do not in any way compare my writing to Charlotte Bronte or any other classic author!
