I particularly love the antique music box sample Nathan used in the intro.  You can even hear the pings and gears!

Those of you who have read the favorably reviewed Chanson de l’Ange novel series will be able to visualize the chapters in the novel that this song depicts, and those of you who have not read the series, will, I hope, be inspired to order your own three volume set of this epic Phantom of the Opera retelling here:

Chanson de l’Ange by Paisley Swan Stewart

Nathan has given me permission to post a teaser clip of the work he has completed so far on the instrumentation for That Summer By The Sea.  Please be aware that this clip is only a partial glimpse into what the song will be like.  Nathan works in layers, so there will be more instruments and musical voicing in the final piece than what you hear in this clip, which is a sort of outline for Nathan and me to work with as we map out the song.  (Also, this is the accompaniment for about half of the actual song.)  We probably won’t share anymore of TSBTS’s progress until it is officially released.

Listen to sample:

That Summer By The Sea
Lyrics by Bonnie Anne Pinard
copyright March 24, 2011

Running along the shores, Papa’s yellow kite swirls and soars
He spins a tale, as the white gulls sail

Splashing all through the waves, exploring the pirate caves
My bucket in hand, fetching pearls from the sand

Red scarf in my hair, came loose in the wild ocean air
Beneath the sunshine, paradise was mine

That summer by the sea…

I long to return to that summer by the sea
When life was a dance for Papa and me
When he was near, I was happy and secure
All the years he’s been gone, I still hear his song.

Down we would ride to the fair, a fiddler’s tune to share
He spins a tale, as the white doves sail

Later that silver night, performing by bright moonlight
Life is enchanted, all wishes granted

Violin tucked beneath his chin, let the fairy tale begin
The bow in his stride, plays the magic he writes

That summer by the sea…

I long to return to that summer by the sea
When life was a dance for Papa and me
When he was near, I was happy and secure
All the years he’s been gone, I still hear his song

The crowd lifts its voice to cheer, they’ve come all this  way to hear
A gypsy melody, to set their hearts free

He tucks me in at night, a story by firelight
The old wicker chair, salt breeze in his hair

Kissing me on my cheek, he sings his child to sleep,
A gypsy lullaby, ‘neath the Milkyway sky

That summer by the sea…

(instrumental interlude)

Bridge: It was snowing, the wind was blowing
That winter day, they carried him away

Come to me again, my angel, Father friend
Papa calm my fears, kiss away my tears

Oh, take me back…take me back…take me back to that summer by the sea….ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Greetings fans and friends!  It is my greatest pleasure to announce that my complete 3 volume Phantom of the Opera based book series is now finished and has been submitted to my publisher!   As some of you know, look I began writing Chanson de l’Ange in February of 2004.  Throughout the writing process I have been hit with one challenge and crisis after another, unhealthy and there have been times when I thought Chanson would never actually be published in its complete form-but that day is just around the corner.

All I can do now is hope that I have given my readers a story with a beginning, here middle, and end that will satisfy and thrill them until the last page!  In just a few weeks Chanson will be available through on-line resources in both paperback and ebook formats!  Check back here for the soon to be announced released date!!!!

I would like to thank all my supporters, readers, and fellow fans for your interest in my books.  Some of you have been with me since February 2004 when I began posting Chanson chapter by chapter on a Gerard Butler message board-and some of you even before that via personal emails!  Had it not been for your encouragement and love of this story, I would have given up years ago!  Thank you!!!!

Greetings fans and friends!   I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far.  Mine has been, well…eventful.  After reviewing the revisions I have done on Chanson de l’Ange, I decided that there was not a good place in the flow of the story to divide it into 4 separate volumes, so the novel is being published in 3 books instead of 4.  In the new revised series, Book One~Orphan in Winter (aprox 320 pages), and Book 2~The Bleeding Rose (aprox 320 pages)-will now form the first half of the story, and Book 3~The Angel’s Song  (aprox 550 pages)  completes the tale!  Those of you who already have the original unrevised Book 1 will not need to purchase the new 1&2 unless you want the revised writing (revised for grammar, spelling and some improvements in the story itself).

The first 2 books are now in the hands of my publisher and are being formatted!   I am currently “polishing” the new Book 3 and will be submitting that one upon completion.  Between my mom’s illness and other health challenges in my family (including my own)  it will be a miracle when the completed series is finally released.  Believe me, there have been times over the past 8 years when I didn’t think it would ever happen-but it’s going to happen…come hell or high water, illnesses, tragedies, or even the end of the world!

There is no formal release date yet but we are shooting for the end of August-September!  The CD as well, is still in the works and I believe Nathan is planning to release the first ‘single’ from it in September.  We have run into many hangups with the CD production, but it is on the schedule and will get done!

Please keep my family in your prayers.  There are many changes taking place in my life right now, and I’m trying to be strong.  Your prayers and encouraging words help to keep me going!

Greetings fans and friends!   Just a quick update.  My sisters and I are in the middle of packing up my mother’s house and moving her to a lovely assisted living “resort”.   We call it a resort because it has EVERYTHING on site that a person could want.  We made this decision very quickly last week after my mother had another fall and badly broke her harm.  We agonized about our decision but it seems the best place for her.  She won’t be so isolated and will have lots of opportunities to socialize.  She even told us that she would get to wear all her pretty clothes again to go to dinner each night.  This statement was a relief, as she has barely been eating lately.  It has been an extremely stressful and heartbreaking experience packing up her things, because she is downsizing from a large 3 bedroom home to a small but very nice 2 bedroom apartment.  Sadly, we cannot fit all her belongings in the new place, so a very large estate sale is forthcoming.  My mother is now in the early stages of dementia but rapidly declining, so at least we can be assured that she is safe and will be moved to the memory care unit when the need arises.

Somehow I’ve been able to keep up revisions and am happy to report that I have only 4 more chapters left to revise!  I confess there are days when I don’t have the energy to work on Chanson, but I do when my brain is working well and when I’m not so stressed.  Also, I hope you will all visit my boards on Pinterest where I have been pinning images that pertain to Chanson de l’Ange, my retelling of Phantom of the Opera.  There are some hints about what is to come in the revised 4 part series, so check it out! (no spoilers though)   Here is one of the images from my Pinterest board:

Greeting fans and friends!  So how many of you have received your POTO 25th anniversary DVD?   Mine will be arriving on Thursday and I cannot wait to see the production again.  Seeing it one time at the theater was not enough.  It amazes me that after all these years-and from the time I was 11 years old, I still have Phantom on the brain!   Good thing too, because my passion for the Phantom story fuels my efforts in getting the revisions done for my own POTO retelling.  Revisions are going well, but as you will see, the challenges in my life are many right now, so it is often difficult for me to really concentrate on what I am doing.  Still, I am persevering and WILL get the 4 part revised series published and released within the next 6 months.

Now I must bring up a personal matter and I would like to invite those of you who have been following me here, to follow me on my new personal blog as well: Alzheimers From Darkness to Light  This is where I will chronicle my husband’s battle with Alzheimers Disease, and my own personal challenges as I too, deal with the many changes in our lives.

As always, thank you for your support and encouragement.  Keep checking this site for updates and announcements!
